UKRAINE
In Ukraine, IOM's Site Management Unit support a wide range of collective centres, where displaced populations, who are unable to return or find alternative accommodation, stay in public buildings and facilities that are often managed by government officials. Primarily, the Unit works closely with local authorities, civil society and site management teams to enhance dignified living conditions in collective centres by providing cash grants to site managers for basic care and maintenance of site infrastructure, service referral, regular site monitoring and provision of essential items. Alongside these activities the Site Management Unit also conducts community engagement activities with the affected communities living in collective centres and capacity building trainings for government officials to improve the management and coordination of the humanitarian response to collective centres across ten of Ukraine’s Oblasts.
